Science Magazine has published an article about LBGT scientists that discusses Erin Cech & Tom Waidzunas’ forthcoming article,  “Navigating the Heteronormativity of Engineering: The Experiences of Lesbian, Gay, and Bisexual Students” – and acknowledges their UCSD Sociology affiliation.

Congratulations to grad student April Huff!

April Huff received approval from NSF for a doctoral dissertation improvement award for her dissertation “Science and the Politics of Representation in Contemporary U.S. Social Movements.”

April also has a co-authored publication entitled “Sex, Science, and the Politics of Biomedicine: Gardasil in Comparative Perspective,” with Northwestern University professor Steve Epstein in the John Hopkins anthology, Three Shots at Prevention: The HPV Vaccine and the Politics of Medicine’s Simple Solutions. Edited by Keith Wailoo, Julie Livingston, Steve Epstein and Robert Aronowitz.
